  • Overview

    The Compliance Associate is responsible for research and analysis of various laws and regulations, industry specific requirements, and product compliance. Subsequently, this position will assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of compliance with procedures, regulations and laws which affect the employment screening industry as well as to ensure internal processes are compliant with applicable domestic and international regulations and laws. 

     

    In addition, this position will perform tasks and oversee various compliance projects as needed such as coordinating license applications, creating reference documents and communications for both internal and external customers, and conducting training.  This individual will also be responsible for assisting in auditing, evaluating, and making recommendations for the correction and/or improvement of internal, operational, and management control systems.  The Compliance Associate will assist with ad hoc requests as needed.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage competing priorities and deliver quality information and analysis while adhering to deadlines.
    • Performs in-depth and complex research, fact gathering, analysis and interpretation of applicable domestic and international laws and statutes pertaining to background screening, healthcare regulations, drug testing, DOT and all other issues pertaining to business operations.
    • Research and document domestic and international compliance requirements and responses.
    • Ensuring procedures, policies, legislation and regulations are correctly followed and complied with as documented and in accordance with applicable law.
    • Prepare reports and presentations by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
    • Work closely with management to ensure that compliance-related matters are resolved and/or handled appropriately to conclusion.
    • Evaluate emerging laws and regulations and their impact on the business.
    • Assist in providing cross-functional support and education to internal teams as well as clients on compliance related items and their potential impact.
    • Establish, review and report on key metrics related to compliance based services and performance.
    • Use metrics to drive product improvement and establish compliance priorities.
    • Enhance business processes by collecting and analyzing metrics to drive process improvement.
    • Test and review proposed and new product features to determine impact on compliance programs.
    • Update internal documentation and processes as needed.
    • Provide Subject Matter Expertise to internal/external stakeholders.

    Qualifications

    Requirements, Skills, and Education

     

    • Education: Paralegal or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree is preferred.  Emphasis on law, compliance administration, business administration, or audit is preferred.
    • 2+ years of experience in compliance or audit is preferred.
    • Research experience is required.
    • Superior problem solving skills with a passion for compliance
    • Strong decision making skills with proven track record of having excellent judgment in the face of ambiguity and imperfect information
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to conduct and analyze compliance research
    • Proven analytical and creative problem solving skills
    • Possess strong organizational and time management skills
    • High attention to detail
    • Experience with the Fair Credit Reporting Act is required
    • Exposure to data privacy policies, data security protocol, and breach and compliance regulations, including the EU Privacy Shield and GDPR, is preferred
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Ability to perform work with little or no supervision
    • Quick learner who thrives doing different tasks on a daily basis
    • Flexibility and adaptability

    • Work independently, be a self-starter, and effectively work with individuals with diverse backgrounds and levels
    • Ability to utilize resources available to complete assigned projects
    • Work overtime as necessary
